Your Personal Travel Guide to Help You Enjoy Your Travels

Are there any ships in port today?

One of the things to keep in mind when traveling to a port city is the arrival of cruise ships. Why, do you ask? Let’s just imagine that we are staying the week or two in a small port city and a large ship with 2,000 to 4,000 people arrive in port on a cruise ship. How easy will it be to book an appointment for a local attraction or tour? Let’s say that you were planning to do some zip-lining. They pick people up at their hotels or condos and drive you to their place of business. They can handle 20-30 people in one group. Maybe they can even handle a few groups during the day. If there is a cruise ship or two in port, they may have completely booked up every slot at the zip-lining venue. They may have also booked up most lunch spots in town as well.cruise-ships

On the days the cruise ship is in port, I make sure to plan that as a “stay in the resort day”, or even jump in the rental car and visit some place distant to the port.

So, to plan for this issue, you are probably wondering how to find out which ships are in port during your vacation. I log onto my website, TeamEdwardsTravel.com and click on the Cruises menu tab. I then click on the link for “Cruises to find out What Cruise Ship is in Port” and work my way through the list of ports until I find the one where I am staying or planning to stay. I may even do this before I leave home so that I can plan my excursions ahead of time.

In this example, work your way down the page to Mexico and click on Cabo San Lucas. Click on the month you are visiting and below that you will see a list, day by day, showing which ships will be in port.VisionOfTheSeas

Now you know when to stay in the resort and when to take a walk to downtown Cabo. When the restaurants will be over crowded by the people from the ships and when you will have downtown all to your self, and of course the other folks staying in the local hotels and condos.
